Brittany wanted to design "a simple, vintage style to reflect something my grandparents would've proudly displayed in their abundance of Christmas decor." She nailed it with this quilt! 

Brittany sent this to be quilted by Knot and Thread, and we documented the finished product. You can now purchase the pattern to make this quilt yourself! We think it would look fabulous in almost any color.

There are so many ways you could color this quilt, but Cheryl's careful placement of lights and darks, with dashes of blue-greens, is simply genius.

We're back with another quilt by scrap quilting maven, Erika. This gigantic, queen-sized scrappy quilt combines postage stamp squares and bordered rectangles. She expertly mixed these together in warm and cool sections. She backed it with a pop-style print and bound it with an electric yellow. 

Erika sent this quilt to Darcie Mair for longarm quilting. Darcie used a chunky, variegated thread and flow quilted edge to edge swirls, feathers, paisleys, and other curly motifs. This quilt has been machine washed and has a luxuriously soft texture.

Starfall

This fun quilt is perfect for the little ones in your life! Joanne offers a pattern for Starfall in baby, throw, and twin sizes. It combines isosceles triangles and traditional 6-pointed stars in a joyful 'falling' pattern. Joanne sewed this version with bright, vibrant florals alongside a cream background fabric. She quilted it with a combination of straight lines and diagonals, switching whimsically between the two.

A Bit of Christmas in May

Erika created this queen-sized quilt with postage-stamp, scrappy piecing. She backed it with a fun, newsprint-y fabric that picked up the limey-greens in the quilt top. She bound it with an angled red & white stripe, which gives a fun hint of candy cane to this Christmas quilt.

WHAT MAKES THIS QUILT SUCCESSFUL

Erika carefully created three categories of postage stamp blocks: red squares only, green squares only, and half & half in a checkered pattern. The way she placed these three blocks creates a transparency effect that helps the viewer's eye to move around the quilt. The subtle pattern looks like simple patchwork when the quilt is bundled up, and gives that familiar, cozy feel of an old quilt. Erika updated the Christmas color palette using bright, even lime greens, in place of the typical evergreens. There are even a few hints of turquoise green mixed in.
